Once you have downloaded the app and created an account or signed in, when you are ready to order a coffee, simply search for a participating cafe.
- Once you have selected a cafe, click ‘Borrow Cups‘:
- Select the number of cups you want to borrow and click ‘Borrow‘
- A confirmation screen with a grey-tick will appear, show this to the Cafe team member when you are at the counter ordering.
- The staff member will then ask you to hit confirm, which will turn the tick green – the cafe will then serve your order in a Co. Cup
Search for a participating cafe that you want to return cups to.
- Once you have selected a cafe, click ‘Return Cups’:
- Select the number of cups you want to return and click ‘Return‘
- A confirmation screen with a grey-tick will appear, show this to the Cafe team member and hand over your used cup.
- The staff member will then show you a 4 digit return code – enter this and click finish
Sometimes accidents happens.
If a Cafe provides a Co. Cup that is damaged in any way, do not drink from the cup and return the cup to the cafe, they will swap for a new cup.
If you have lost or damaged a cup after borrowing please inform our team within the app, if we feel the reason is legitimate we will clear the borrowed cup from your account.
Please note that cups have been damaged/lost repeatedly or deemed deliberately lost/damaged by our team, we reserve the right to charge a replacement fee (outlined in next section)
Co. Cups relies on users returning cups so that they can be washed and re-used repeatedly to help reduce resource consumption and to make sure cups are always available for borrowing, so its important that you return cups.
You won’t be able to continue borrowing cups once you reach your check-out limit unless you start returning.
If you are on the free subscription you need to return a checked-out cup within 14 days or you may be charged a fee of $7.95 to cover the replacement cost of the cup.
If you are on our premium plan you have 30 days to return cups or you may be charged a reduced fee of $4.00 to cover the replacement cost of the cup.
Charging of a replacement fee will clear un-returned cups from your account, so you will be able to borrow again.
If you have any issues that are preventing you from returning cups, simply notify our team and we will be happy to assist.
Australians send over a billion disposable coffee cups to landfill each year, with millions of other single-use items consumed and disposed of each day as well.
Co. exists to help businesses and consumers transition from single-use items, by providing attractive re-usable items in a convenient and on-demand format.
By using a Co. Cup, you are preventing a disposable cup from being produced and sent to landfill.
Each use saves energy, water and materials (including deforestation) from the production and transport phase of a disposable, and the creation of green-house gasses that occurs when a disposable breaks down in landfill or the environment.
Co. Cups in comparison are continually re-used. The re-use of a Co. Cup does use water and energy via a commercial dishwasher, but this is a small fraction of that compared to a disposable – use of a Co. Cup dramatically lowers (an estimated 90% reduction) your contribution towards global warming compared to disposable use.
Co. Cups are made from bamboo fiber with a paper based decal printed on the outside.
Our Bamboo Fiber is actually the product of off-cuttings from the manufacture of other items such as re-usable bamboo cutlery. These off cuttings are turned into a fine powder before being pressure moulded with a binding agent to form our cups.
Bamboo is the most sustainable crop in the world, absorbing more than 5 times more CO2 and producing 35% more oxygen than similar tree plantations.
Our Co. Cups lids are made from Polypropylene (PP), which is a BPA free food safe plastic that creates a hygienic product.
